Summertime Summary
Wow, I can't believe it's September already. And the middle of it at that! Summer flew by for us (as I'm sure it does for everyone) and I'm not sure where the time went. Nick and I were really lucky this year and were able to go and do a lot of fun stuff. We get teased that we take too much time off work but we figure that we should enjoy the freedom now while it's just the two of us. :) The start of summer started off with moving out of our apartment. We had a house set up to start renting in August so from the middle of June to middle of August we lived in Sherwood Park with Nick's parents. It was nice to be able to save a little bit of money before we moved into our new place, so we're grateful to them for their hospitality. And for all the good meals :)
We had a couple big trips this summer, one with the Famulaks and one with the Schows. The second week of July we met up with Nick's parents and sister, Alysha, at Kalamalka lake in B.C. It was so beautiful over there, being nestled in the mountains with multiple lakes all around us. It was in the Kelowna area, and it reminded me a lot of Montana. We enjoyed some really hot days and had a couple rainy ones too. Nick and I both rekindled our love of wakeboarding, and I think I read 3 books while I was there, it was so nice to be able to lay around enjoying the sun and relaxing!
The water was a little cooler than I'm used too, but it was beautiful and bright green. It was also good to just have a family trip with Nick's family, that was our first vacation with them. Our evenings were especially fun, just watching movies, or playing games. We got them all hooked on the board game 'Ticket to Ride' and even went out for Nick's Dad's birthday dinner at a cool little Greek restaurant.
In August we went down to Cardston for a week before we went to Echo. Nick worked with my Dad doing electrical work, and I had lots of fun chillin with my Mom, Jill, Ashley and especially Linds. It was great to have her up visiting from L.A. and to spend time out at the Hall farm. I have so many great memories from there, so it's always good to spend time visiting my honorary family :) Echo was great this year since we were able to have my whole immediate family there. We don't get to see Shane & Jennica's family very often, so it was nice to spend a whole week with everyone together. Having 5 nieces and nephews around was so much fun aswell, since they're all getting older and are so much fun to play with! But Echo in general is one of my favorite places to be.
I love the beauty of Montana; the big blue skies, being surrounded by mountains, and having access to the warm freshwater lakes. I'm so glad I was able to grow up going to Lake Blaine and Echo and for all the fun boating and camping experiences I've had. I hope I'll be able to continue to do the same sort of thing with my own family as we get older.
Since I've rambled on so long already I will stop now ;) I'm gonna try to include some pictures with this post, but since I'm new to blogging, we'll see how that goes. If not, I guess I'll try later :)
